Engineering support: why internal teams outsource an entire front
It's not a shortage of good people. It's that the good people you have are busy maintaining what already exists.
The symptom
There's an important initiative — a new module, a migration, an integration — stalled for months. Not because the team doesn't know how to do it, but because pulling two people off what they do today would stop something else. Hiring takes three to six months before someone is productive. The initiative stays stalled.
What engineering support is
A senior external team takes on that specific front, integrated with your team: same board, same ceremonies, same coding standard, same review. Architecture decisions are made together with your technical team, not imposed. The repository is yours.
What it isn't
- It's not a body shop — we answer for the delivery of the front, not for hours logged.
- It's not a parallel black box — if the knowledge doesn't stay with your team, it failed.
- It's not permanent by default — the front has a beginning, a middle and a handoff.
When it makes sense
When the front can be scoped, has clear acceptance criteria, and there's someone on your side to decide. When it's too diffuse to scope, the first step is a technical discovery that turns it into a scope.
The ways we can work together are in How we can work.
